I’m listening to Little Bee, by Chris Cleave in my car these days. It is the story of a Nigerian refugee who makes her way to Great Britain, fleeing certain death at the hands of ruthless men that ravaged her village, for the recently discovered oil fields. She makes her way to England and eventually to the home of people she barely knows, a couple she met on a Nigerian beach as she and her sister fled the local terror.

Important in audio books is the narrator’s voice, and Anne Flosnik does a fabulous job, bringing the characters to life, imbuing their voices with characteristics unique to each. A. Adams
